‘Ten Bellows’ is a composition by Edward Jessen for theatrical pianist, assistant performer and auxiliary audio, developed collaboratively with pianist Catherine Laws, who performs it here, with Hannah Butterfield as the assistant. The piece was first produced for performance as part of ‘Player Piano’, a large scale multimedia performance piece by Catherine Laws, premiered in May 2016. This film version, developed with film maker Minyung Im, substantially evolves the dramatic context of the piece substantially from its live performance presentation.
